STRUCTURE OF THE BOOK

The book is organized in chapters as usual, but they are out of sequence so that it is no necessary to read them in order to understand the plot.
There is an alternation of different themes: personal facts, cases of Mma Ramotswe's detective agency and there is also a couple of chapters where nothing happens, as chapter 10 where Mma Ramotswe is lost in thoughts and chapter 12 with a description of her house.
The line of the plot goes along one main case: the case of the vanished boy that starts in chapter 6 and lasts until the end of the book but it appears and disappears trapping the reader's interest along the book.
In the first four chapters, we know about the main character: Precious Ramotswe, her childhood and her youth and her father is also presented, his hard life and how important he is for his daughter Precious. However, in these opening chapters there is also the first case of the detective's agency that Mma Ramotswe solves successfully.
After the presentation of the boy's case, in chapter 8, another important character appears, Mr J. L. B. Matekoni who will stay in the entire book playing an important role in Mma Ramtswe's life.
Minor cases alternate with the important one keeping always the interest of the reader. All cases are properly solved by the leading character with her intelligence, intuition and common sense.
Her personal life becomes more interesting as the book makes progress and the end is a very romantic one that invites you to continue with the next book of the series.
